Within a recording career that has spanned almost 25 years, Shania Twain has released a bevy of music that has made us laugh, made us dance and made us fall in love a little deeper. But some of her best songs are the ones that hit you straight in the heart and make you think.
“Soldier” might be one of those songs.
Featured on her upcoming fifth album, “Now,” set for release on September 29, the song is also featured in a new film, “Thank You For Your Service,” which tells the story of a soldier returning home from Iraq. Shania shared a sneak listen to the song with her fans on September 5 as part of a film trailer. “I’m so proud that my song ‘Soldier’ from #ShaniaNOW is part of @TYFYSMovie! Watch the music featurette below and exclusively at @Cinemark,” she wrote.
The song serves as yet another taste of the new album, on which Shania was able to stretch out her writing talents. “My songwriting is my diary and it is my best friend,” she said in a recent interview with The New York Times. “It’s a place I can go to where it’s not expecting anything from me. There’s just no inhibitions there. It’s a complete free place to say whatever I want to say.”
