Miley Cyrus has built a career on surprising fans. But just when we think we have her all figured out, she surprises us again.

In the wee hours of the morning of August 18, Miley premiered the music video for her new song, “Younger Now,” on her socials, throwing the internet into an all-out frenzy. Co-directed by Miley herself, the video features the 24 year old showing off some vintage country attire while also channeling none other than Elvis Presley with the slicked back hair and sly smile. The visual tribute to the King was timed perfectly to pay homage to the 40th anniversary of the legend’s untimely passing back in 1977.

Of course, fans knew full well that something big was coming by the end of the week, as Miley had spent much of her week sharing childhood pics of herself in anticipation of the new song, which celebrates the young people of the world today and the role they can play.

And while the video has its perplexing moments, it’s fairly obvious that Miley finds herself in a new place, both professionally and personally – and if you ask us, we like it.
