Do you love singing karaoke? We do, too. As much as we love singing it, though, we really love watching others go all out in an epic karaoke performance. That might be why we love late night talk show host James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” so much. The stars that appear on it put as much into that front seat performance as they do when they have an audience of thousands. Now, add in the excitement of Christmas and this holiday version of the popular segment is insane!
Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus were just two of the artists belting out “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” with James, and while we may be partial to our Tennessee girls, we do have to say that even though it doesn’t seem as if they were taking it seriously, they both sounded incredible.
The funny thing is that as wild and crazy as we’re used to seeing Miley be onstage, she may have been one of the most subdued artists in James’ car, relatively speaking. Keep in mind that Bruno Mars was flirting with passersby on the sidewalk and Harry Styles punctuated his performance by kissing James square on the mouth.
And then there’s Kelly, who might love to laugh more than anyone we’ve ever seen.
Laugh, but not ho-ho-ho. Her feeble attempt at a Saint Nick-type chuckle left a little to be desired. That’s OK though, she sings her jingle bells off.
Kelly actually appeared in “Carpool Karaoke” last month and got a major surprise from James when they pulled over and her handsome husband, Brandon, hopped into the back seat for a little date night romance. Of course, with cameras rolling, the intimacy was more about the farm report that Brandon got that morning than it was about anything provocative. Unless you consider farm animals provocative.
Miley originally appeared in “Carpool Karaoke” in October and, much like Kelly, even without production bells and whistles, and obviously going for the funny bone, she sounds dang good!
Back in 2015 Carrie Underwood was part of this favorite segment on James’ program, “The Late Late Show,” and she ended up in a rousing gospel version of “Joy to the World,” of course sounding like a total country music angel.
OK, we’re ready for Christmas now!
