The sentiment behind Kid Rock’s latest song “Tennessee Mountain Top” is sweet at its core. Essentially, it’s the story of a guy from the often suffocating atmosphere of California finding a home in the much more laid back state of Tennessee.

“It’s the opposite of ‘Cowboy,’ ” Kid Rock explained in a recent interview with The Tennessean. “‘Cowboy’ was the pilgrimage to L.A. and this is the pilgrimage back.”

So when we heard that the music video for “Tennessee Mountain Top” would be coming out on Oct. 20, many expected a nice and serene treatment showing all that is beautiful about Nashville.

But what we got was a raccoon.

Now, this is no ordinary raccoon. This is a hard-smoking, finger-waving, sharp-shooting, hot chicken loving raccoon who loves honkytonks and girls with, um, big assets — the same assets that the raccoon motorboats towards the end of the video.

Alrighty then.

Granted, the music video also shows everything that fans love about the easygoing atmosphere of Nashville and its surrounding countryside, a countryside that Kid Rock now calls home via a camouflaged doublewide trailer on top of a mountain just outside of Nashville.

And yes, when the raccoon smiles, he is sort of adorable.

Kinda like Kid Rock himself.
