Kid Rock is one of the rare artists who is equally at home in the rock, country, soul and hip-hop worlds, and his new video for “American Rock ’n Roll” reflects that status.

In the clip, Kid is performing on a stage set up in front of a drive-in movie theater screen. As he sings the lyrics referencing Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” Elvis Presley’s “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Motown Blues,” images of Johnny and Elvis appear on the screen behind him.

There are also video cameos from Slash of Guns ’N Roses fame,  Hank Williams and Willie Nelson, as well as hip-hop legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

The video has been in the top 15 on YouTube’s trending chart, so it looks like Kid’s fans are really digging the clip.

The “American Rock ’n Roll” video is a true picture of the musical melting pot that has made up Kid Rock’s career and helped him find success in multiple genres. It also helps him bring together people from different musical worlds that wouldn’t ordinarily mix.

Kid recently told CMT, “That’s what I get off on in life. That’s what I think I do best. I’ve been told by some people I look up to that are heroes of mine, ‘Whatever it is, you’re good at bringing people together.’”

Seriously, Kid Rock’s Instagram account is proof of his diverse tastes. Who else would would post a photo tribute to the late R&B giant Fats Domino one day, and then roll out a throwback photo with Hank Williams, Jr. just a few days later?

We have lost a TRUE American treasure!! God bless you Fats!! RIP
