John Cena is a mountain of a man in the world of WWE wrestling. A quick search of the internet says he stands over six feet tall, weighs 250-pounds and has a 50” chest and 19” biceps. Ouch, those hugs hurt. But in a recent installment of Apple Music’s “Carpool Karaoke,” he was dwarfed by his traveling and singing companion, NBA star Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq stands about a foot taller than John, so the entertainment started well before the pair began to sing as they tried to squeeze into a tiny car together. Fortunately, the folks at Apple Music arranged for alternate transportation, and while the extra room made them look more comfortable, we aren’t quite sure it contributed to the quality of their singing.
In their defense — like they need us to defend them — their set list included tunes like Hall and Oates’ “Maneater” and, appropriately, LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out,” which may not have best showcased their vocal qualities.
Can we be honest here? They aren’t terrible. In fact, like many entertainers, they know their strengths. So what they lacked in Grammy-winning vocals they made up for in choreography and humor.
And honestly, who are we to judge such large, muscular men who could smash us under their thumbs?
