There isn’t much in the world that’s as precious as seeing a big ol’ country boy turn to mush in the presence of his baby girl. The love is written all over their face, in their voice, in their posture. It’s certainly obvious in Lee Brice in the video for his song, “The Best Part of Me.”
Lee has been releasing videos for songs from his upcoming, self-titled album, and while we didn’t think he had time to write and record a song for his only little girl, Trulee, he surprised us with this incredible ballad and the video for it.
The song goes through characteristics that the singer shares with different members of his family, from his dad’s blue eyes, to his mother’s love of gospel music, to his brother Lewis’ passion for rock ’n’ roll. And even with all of those amazing triats, the song says that the best part of him is his little girl.
Oh hang on. We aren’t done.
The video for “The Best Part of Me” shows Lee, his wife Sara, their sons Ryker and Takoda, Lee’s mother and father and baby Trulee at her christening. And in it, we see all of the humanity and authenticity that makes us love country music and the stars that make it. From Lee’s broad smile while he cradles his five-month-old baby girl, to a tender moment when Sara kisses Trulee’s noggin, it is all the feels.
We’re picturing Lee Brice, 20 or so years from now, begrudgingly singing this at his daughter’s wedding.
We’re also imaging a whole lot of 2018 brides dancing with their daddies to this tune at their weddings.
We support that.
