It’s hard to find an aspiring country artist who doesn’t want to have songs that top the charts, sold-out concert dates, gold and platinum albums and a case full of ACM, CMA and Grammy Awards. The smart ones, though, know that to really make an impact, what is most important is longevity. A career that spans more time than it took to break through, and grows and evolves with every year, every new release and every tour. A career like Jason Aldean’s.
We’re big fans of Jason and how he has managed his career, but there are a whole bunch of other reasons that we love this Macon, Georgia, native. We’re going to look at a few of them in this edition of Rare Country’s 5, including our No. 1 favorite reason, Jason’s deep commitment to helping find a cure for breast cancer.
Yes, tough guy, outlaw, hunter and athlete, Jason Aldean is not one single bit afraid of the color pink like many men are, although we’re betting he’d rather not have such a specific reason to have to wear it. After losing a friend to breast cancer, Jason committed himself to doing his part to create awareness for early detection and raise funds to help find a cure. For more than a dozen years now, the country music superstar has held his annual “Concert For the Cure,” which benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a breast cancer charity.
And just like he has with his career, Jason has grown and evolved the event so that it can benefit the most warriors courageously fighting this battle. While the “Concert For the Cure” began in Nashville, in recent years, he has taken it on the road and designated a show on his tour to be the special event with proceeds staying in that city.
That’s a good man. And a good dad.
Jason has mentioned before that one of the reasons he so fervently works for a cure for this disease is because, until recently, he was surrounded by women. Besides a mother, sister and wife, Jason also has two beautiful daughters, and he has said his hope is that a cure is discovered before it becomes a concern for his girls.
Yes, Jason loves his beautiful daughters and his handsome new son. And while baby Memphis is just a wee bit too young to enjoy the great outdoors like his dad does, Jason’s daughters, Keeley and Kendyl follow in Daddy’s footsteps. The teen and tween are already big Georgia Bulldog fans, much like their famous father, and they have both spent time in a deer stand and on a bass boat with their pops as well.
It isn’t all about Dad, though. Like any good father knows, it’s all about compromise with your littles. So for every hunting, fishing, football or baseball excursion, there’s also a round of Candy Land to be played.
These are just a couple of reasons that we love Jason Aldean, and if we had a few weeks to spare, we could probably get them all listed. But what are the reasons that you love this rockin’ country star? Tell us in the comments.
And be sure to check back in later in the week when we have more of the fun and news from in and around country music in Rare Country’s 5.
