If you ask us, any country music fan is a good country music fan, but the amount of patience that Luke Bryan fans have exhibited while waiting for new music should earn them some kind of medal!

Instead, though, their reward came in the form of that highly anticipated new music. Early in the morning on August 23, country radio stations began to play the new single, “Light It Up.” The song is the first release from Luke’s upcoming album and meshes all of the things that we’ve come to expect and love from the award-winning country star: contemporary lyrics set to energetic grooves and arrangements, paired with Luke’s emotional vocal delivery. The writing is on the wall. This feels destined to be Luke’s next big hit.

But when is that album coming, home boy? (Yes, we are that greedy.)

As if a new Luke song wasn’t enough of a reason to love country music this week, two of our favorite bands, Little Big Town and Old Dominion, shared exclusive video with Rare Country of their collaboration on a track for Old Dominion’s new album, “Happy Endings.” The song is titled, “Stars in the City,” and we’re anxious to hear the whole thing because, by our calculations, they put nine people in the vocal booth of the studio to record it.

Can you say “cozy?”

Obviously, it doesn’t usually work that way, but besides making for a super fun picture if it did, can you imagine the energy? Goose bumps.

Those are just two of our top stories, but be sure to check out Erin Holt and Rare Country’s 5 for more on what happened during a week that eclipsed many others. That was a hint, y’all.

And be sure to come back next week for more fun lists and our top stories from in and around country music on Rare Country’s 5.
