Good gravy! What a week in country music! We’re pretty used to our favorite country stars showcasing their incredible and diverse talent in a lot of different ways, but this week we got a good reminder of how deep that talent pool can really be.

We sure love Luke Bryan, and apparently so does ABC. It has been reported that our Georgia boy has been approached to act as a judge on the hit reality competition show “American Idol.” Nothing has been confirmed yet, and it is rumored that Keith Urban is also still in the running. Wouldn’t that be something to see country music dominate the “”Idol” panel the way it has dominated the winner’s circle?

While swivel-hipped Luke is being tapped to voice his honest and authentic opinion, another young country star garnered a lot of attention for being a hip-swiveling phony!

There is absolutely no question that Jon Pardi and Dierks Bentley have been having the time of their lives on Dierks’ “What the Hell Tour,” but the ante got upped significantly when Jon, who we’d like to point out has an excellent Elvis lip, hijacked Dierks’ set dressed as the King of Rock ’n’ Roll. White jumpsuit, dark glasses and an impressive pompadour, Jon made a striking version of Elvis. So much so, we think there might be a future at a Las Vegas wedding chapel for the young star. After country music, of course.

It’s been a difficult couple of weeks for the United States with Hurricane Harvey striking southeast Texas, and now Hurricane Irma preparing to make landfall, and it’s been nice to have a few little diversions, but first and foremost our thoughts are those who have been affected by these terrible disasters. They remain in our prayers.
