Country music has had its share of tragedies and challenges in 2017, but this particular week is one for celebrating and smiling. In fact, our top stories in Rare Country’s 5 are uplifting, inspiring and downright fun.

Leave it to Luke Bryan to bring the fun factor. And this time, he did it without even trying.

What’s a guy to do? Luke was simply trying to perform his best show, as he always does, for a great audience in New York when things went south. A projectile, immediately identified as a woman’s bra, came soaring through the air, only to land … not on the stage, the microphone stand or his boot, but right on his face. And this lovable country superstar was neither angry, nor frustrated. In typical Luke fashion, he took it in stride with that dazzling grin and a witty retort.

This week also held one of the most anticipated events in country music. Thomas Rhett and his amazing wife, Lauren, finally welcomed their new baby girl into the world. After 36 hours of labor—give that girl a medal and a margarita—Ada James made her big debut. That brings the headcount up to four in the Akins household with big sister Willa, who made the journey from Uganda to the States in May. Actually, right now, the headcount is a bit higher with family and friends coming and going to congratulate the beautiful new family.

Boobies and babies weren’t the only big newsmakers in country music this week. In fact, in the new Rare Country’s 5, Erin Holt talks about a landmark decision brought about by a former country star that affects all women. And it’s a hip-hip-hooray for sure!
