The summer-centric, mid-tempo track continued Kelley’s “Beach Cowboy” aesthetic. “When I first heard it, I was smiling the whole way through,” Kelley said of the song in a statement. “I’ve lived this song. It was striking chords all over my body, I felt it in my soul.”

The release earned Kelley the coveted most-added position at country radio as a solo artist. The song had adds by 80 first-week stations on Tuesday (May 30).

“I am just about speechless ya’ll,” Kelley shared on Instagram. “I’m about to celebrate – do a little fishing. In all seriousness, this means the world to me. I feel so supported and so grateful. Thank you to everyone at country radio.

“See You Next Summer” was written by David Garcia, HARDY, and Hillary Lindsey. The lyrics tell the story of a summer-time fling that turns into more. ‘Cause this ain’t a margarita, can I get your number / “Meet me by the water” text, hookin’ up / See you next summer, Kelley sings in the chorus.

The track is the first solo song Kelley has serviced to country radio since cutting ties with his Florida Georgia Line banner. He celebrated the release of the song at a special hometown show at the Daytona Beach Oceanfront Bandshell on May 26.

“See You Next Summer” serves as a preview for the full-length solo project Kelley is working on. He previously launched his solo career with the independently released album, Sunshine State of Mind.

Kelley is slated to appear at CMA Fest in Nashville next week (June 8-11) for a 50th-anniversary panel, a performance at Spotify House at Ole Red, and a chat with American Songwriter at the Close Up Stage at Fan Fair X inside Music City Center.
