Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris’ country/pop hit “Craving You” was one of the best crossover songs of 2017, not to mention one of our favorite videos of the year, taking the song’s storyline in an unexpected direction. The clip plays out like a high-octane action movie with Maren featured as a gun-toting bank robber and Thomas as her accomplice—or so it would seem until a twist at the end reveals the truth. The action is interspersed with loving scenes of Thomas with his real life wife, Lauren Akins.

The song was the first single from Thomas’ latest album, “Life Changes,” and hit No. 1 on the “Billboard” Country Airplay chart in July, giving Thomas his eighth chart-topper.

“I’m so incredibly proud of ‘Craving You.’ It transports me right back to the ’80s,” he said in a press release. “There’s that Phil Collins-sounding drum, the stuttered bass notes. I’m a huge lover of the music from that genre, and I think this song taps right into that vibe. And my fans know that I thrive on being unpredictable.

“Every song is written for a reason, but it felt like this one was meant for me,” he added, noting that Maren’s voice was just icing on the cake. “[She] just blew me away. I was amazed at how much her voice fit the song. Having a woman on the song made it twice as craving – a guy and a girl, obsessed with each other. I think that’s relatable.”
