Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood top Rare Country Awards for second consecutive year

For the second consecutive year, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood scored two awards each in the Rare Country Awards, it was announced Dec. 14 at a livestreamed concert event in Nashville. Blake won Male Artist and Fan Moment of the Year, while Carrie was named Female Artist of the Year, and also won for her collaboration with Reba McEntire in the Grand Ole Opry Moment of the Year category.

All of the night’s winners were chosen by Rare Country readers, who hit the internet hard, casting well over a million votes this year.

Additional winners included Brett Young for New Artist, Little Big Town for Duo/Group and Thomas Rhett for Story of the Year.

Before Kane took the stage with the night’s closing performance, he was surprised with the Duet of the Year award for the song “What Ifs,” which he shares with childhood friend Lauren Alaina. Kane was the recipient of Rare Country’s New Artist award last year.
