NBC’s “The Voice” welcomed two familiar faces to the competition during the premiere night of the blind auditions on Sept. 25. Doting daddy Dave Crosby and his precious, four-year-old daughter Claire have been taking YouTube by storm with their adorable daddy/daughter duets. In fact, their collaboration on Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” has earned them more than 16 million views online!
After Dave’s solo “The Voice” audition, the dynamic duo graced the stage with that viral hit at the urging of coach Adam Levine.
But it wasn’t “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” that earned Dave a spot in the competition, it was actually his vulnerable take on Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Follow You into the Dark” that landed him on Team Adam. Dave performed the ballad, while his sweet Claire cheered him on from the side of the stage with her mama.
After Dave’s performance Adam said, “I turned around impulsively because I think that responding to beautiful music should be an impulsive decision. The purity and the beauty of your voice is irreplaceable, and I really want to be a part of that.”
“It’s like your voice has its own echo chamber,” coach Blake Shelton added. “However you mastered that, I’d love to have you on my team. We’ll get you going as an artist, and then we’ll co-manage your daughter.”
Coach Miley Cyrus, who turned around for Dave at the last second, related mostly to Claire. She said, “I started my career at four years old doing the same thing you’re little girl is doing right now.”
