Shania Twain’s most successful pop/country crossover single, “You’re Still The One,” has resonated with so many people over time. So much so that many artists including Lady Antebellum, Kelly Clarkson and Lauren Alaina have covered the tune during their shows.
Now, rising country star Mickey Guyton is putting her own spin on the ballad from Shania’s best-selling “Come On Over” album, which was released 20 years ago this month.
A clip posted to Mickey’s Instagram page shows her casually dressed in a flowing white top, and singing the the 1998 hit alongside an acoustic guitar player.
“Channeling my inner @shaniatwain… 👑 #YoureStillTheOne,” Mickey captions the video, where fans can see her talent shine in an intimate setting.
Mickey puts so much passion into her rendition, while incorporating runs and her Texan twang in the performance. But perhaps the best part of all is when her guitar player blends his vocals with hers to create beautiful harmony.
You might say that the lyrics to “You’re Still The One” ring true to Mickey, as she recently married the love of her life. Rare Country previously reported that she tied the knot with now husband, Grant Savoy, in June. The two exchanged wedding vows in an intimate ceremony in Kauai, Hawaii.
As for Shania, fans may know that she took a 15-year recording break to recuperate her voice following the success of “Come On Over,” and the release of 2002’s “Up!” In September she dropped “Now,” which includes the songs “Life’s About to Get Good,” and “Swingin’ with My Eyes Closed.”
