Every winter country radio programmers, DJs and music industry professionals all come together for a lively three days in Nashville known as the Country Radio Seminar, or “CRS.”
Artists, country radio folk and record label staffers spend the day in panels discussing all aspects of the growing and ever-evolving radio industry, and the nights visiting with both established and up-and-coming musicians and being treated to concert experiences that are often very intimate and almost always truly one-of-a-kind.
But CRS is not for the faint of heart—the days and nights are long, and sometimes it’s hard to hold out and rally, even for an up-close-and-personal hotel suite showcase with a country superstar like Luke Bryan.
Y’all, this video demonstrates exactly why you should never, ever fall asleep if you’re at a show with Luke, no matter how comfy the chair may be.
Luke was performing for a small group of country radio professionals at CRS this week, pulling out his guitar in the Presidential Suite at the Omni Hotel. It was meant to be an intimate concert for his pals, and super laid back. Everyone was digging it, but things took a hilarious turn when the programmers noticed their comrade Brooks O’Brian, a longtime radio personality and programmer from San Diego, California, had apparently fallen asleep while Luke was singing!
Hey, give her a break. Like we said, CRS is exhausting!
One of her radio colleagues, Orlando, Florida, radio personality Ashley Stegbauer, couldn’t resist posting video of the moment Luke unleashed his signature hip swiveling front and center as Brooks just snoozed away.
Oh she woke up, alright, good-naturedly laughing about it as he hugged her.
This is one moment poor Brooks will never, ever live down for many CRS conventions to come.
There was also some actual singing and performing that night, too. Luke showcased his latest single, “What Makes You Country,” during the suite show, too, and everyone was obviously digging on that one.
Luke’s album, also titled “What Makes You Country,” was released back in December of 2017. The first leg of his “What Makes You Country Tour” launches Feb. 16. Throughout the year Sam Hunt, Jon Pardi, Morgan Wallen and Carly Pearce will be on the road with Luke.
We personally think Brooks should be awarded Luke tickets for life!
