You can always count on Craig Morgan to salute our soldiers at every opportunity—that’s just one of the reasons we love the country star.
We were blown away when we saw this performance from the singer backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, where he put his country spin on pop star Gavin DeGraw’s powerful song, “Soldier.”
Craig said he heard the song on the radio and it spoke to him a different way than most of us, for a good reason!
“The subject matter for me is a lot different, I believe, than the guy that wrote it and sang it,” Craig said with a smile in the video before delivering soulful take on the pop tune.
A lot different because, as fans know, Craig is a veteran! He served on active duty for nine-and-a-half years in the U.S. Army as a member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, and remained in the reserves for another six-and-a-half years after that.
And we’re sure that Gavin would be so thrilled and absolutely love Craig’s version.
Today, Craig devotes so much of his time and performance schedule to touring military bases abroad and embarking on USO tours for our men and women overseas.
He’s basically the nicest guy in the world, y’all.
And now we get to this awesome star and his family take on another exciting adventure in a brand new TV series.
UP TV will follow Craig, his wife Karen and his children Alexandra, Kyle and Wyatt as they come together around the heartbreak of losing their son and brother, Jerry Greer, in a tragic 206 boating accident, by launching their passion project — Morgan Farms.
This is the second TV show Craig will be a part of. His popular hunting show, “Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors,” is heading into its ninth season on the Outdoor Channel.
But we’re excited to see Craig and his family together in this new venture, too. In the first season of the series, titled “Morgan Family Strong,” we’ll see Craig and his wife and kids open up their family store in Tennessee, “The Gallery at Morgan Farms,” and we’ll get a sneak peek at Craig’s upcoming album, along with other family milestones.
“Morgan Family Strong” is set to premiere March 1 at 9:30 p.m. (ET) on UP TV.
