With just one full-length album that produced four No. 1 hit singles and a crazy good live show, Sam Hunt has become one of the hottest stars in country music.

You don’t have to take our word for it. Check out the wall of fans pressed to the stage during his performance at this year’s CMA Music Festival.

It’s hard to tell who is having more fun, though. Darting back and forth, high-fiving anonymous hands while belting out his current smash, “Body Like a Back Road,” Sam’s broad smile never leaves his face. You can tell those are his people, because he used to be and still is a fan.

In a clip during before the taping of the “CMA Fest” special airing on ABC Aug. 16, Sam admitted, “I always loved music as a fan. I never had any idea that I would have any ounce of potential to write songs or sing songs or play music.” After playing around on his buddy’s guitar, he bought one of his own. He adds, “I did, thinking it would be a hobby and I couldn’t put it down.”

Lucky for us, though, right?

It’s hard to believe that Sam’s debut album, “Montevallo,” is almost three years old. “Body Like a Back Road” is the first single from his sophomore album. And while we don’t have any details on that project yet, we have our fingers crossed we’ll hear it soon!
