Now that Luke Bryan’s fourth annual Crash My Playa concert festival has wrapped, fans will have to wait a year to live out another amazing and unforgettable experience at the popular event, held in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
But that doesn’t mean that the party has to stop. After all, concertgoers and country music lovers alike can certainly relive the magical moments of this year’s four-day event through videos posted on YouTube.
And, one such video from the bash features host Luke performing with good buddy Blake Shelton.
The country superstars shared the stage during Blake’s headlining set on Jan. 19, and busted out a whole boatload of cover songs. Among them was a foot-stomping rendition of Alabama’s 1980s smash hit, “Dixieland Delight.”
In this video, you’ll notice how fans went wild as the two stars reached over to grab their trusty acoustic guitars. Luke, who looked quite old school disguised in a cowboy hat, a hilarious Blake-inspired mullet wig and a loud flannel shirt, took ownership of the first verse while Blake, who donned a more modern look of blue jeans and a neutral colored shirt, added backup harmonies to the tune.
Midway through the song, fiddler Jenee Fleenor pleased the crowd with an incredible instrumental solo. Then “Bluke” incorporated a few dance moves into the performance, making the entire display an ultimate crowd pleaser!
“Dixieland Delight” was released on Jan. 28 1983, as the lead single from Alabama’s seventh studio album, “The Closer You Get…” Over the years, stars like Tim McGraw, Midland and Old Crow Medicine Show have put their own spin on the song. But we’ve got to hand it to “Bluke.” They totally slayed it!
After “Dixieland Delight,” Blake and Luke kept fans engaged for at least another hour with their duet renditions on more classic country songs including Brooks & Dunn’s, “Neon Moon,” The Bellamy Brothers’ “Redneck Girl” and Garth Brooks’ “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old).”
And, it seems as if Blake and Luke have made a tradition out of turning one of their headlining sets into an all out party at Crash My Playa, because they also teamed up onstage last year with the inclusion of country group Little Big Town. If that’s the case, then we certainly can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year!
Aside from “Bluke,” Crash My Playa — which ran from Jan. 18-21 — included performances from stars Sam Hunt, Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd, Dustin Lynch, Brett Young, the Cadillac Three and more.
