Little Big Town embraces their country roots in gorgeous performance

Although Karen Fairchild takes the lead on most of Little Big Town’s songs, it’s obvious that all of the members are incredibly talented or they couldn’t create those magical harmonies that we all love. Still, it’s always nice to see her husband, Jimi Westbrook, in the spotlight.

The band appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on August 17, and it was Jimi’s opportunity to step up to the lead mic to sing “When Someone Stops Loving You” from Little Big Town’s current album, “The Breaker.”

The heartbreaking ballad takes listeners through the healing process after a breakup, and with the incredibly accurate lyrics, the ache in Jimi’s voice and the almost gospel production from the band, you can almost feel the agony.

Now, the band’s Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet have also had their time as frontman, too! Kimberly’s angelic and crystalline soprano leads the band on the amazing love song, “Sober,” from the “Tornado” album and “Beat Up Bible” from “The Breaker,” and Phillip gives us goose bumps on the lead for the dreamy ballad, “Bring It On Home” from the band’s sophomore album, “The Road to Here.” In concert, they take turns as the lead vocalist so everyone gets a chance to shine.

You can see each and every member of Little Big Town have their moment in person as the band continues touring the U.S. through September, including a weekend at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Hurry, though! After that, they’re heading to the U.K. and will be there until early October.
