Scotty McCreery is really good at covering hit songs by other artists and making them his own. After all, he did win “American Idol” back in 2011.

Some lucky fans at the Washington County Fair in Nebraska got to watch Scotty show off that talent for interpreting songs with this spot-on cover of the Eagles’ “Take It Easy.” Even though the song was a hit decades before Scotty was even born, he captures its laid-back feel perfectly. Those sweet harmonies from Scotty’s bandmates complete the performance quite nicely.

The fans in the crowd loved Scotty’s cover version of “Take It Easy.” You can see them swaying along as he sings it and then erupting in applause at the end of the performance. The woman who uploaded this video to YouTube had a big compliment for Scotty, too.

She writes, “I am married to one of the biggest Eagles fans who said, ‘That was really good.’ ”

Nice job, Scotty!

“Take It Easy” was the debut single from the Eagles back in 1972. Modern country fans will remember Travis Tritt’s hit cover of the song from the 1994 tribute album, “Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles.” The video below with Travis features all of the members of the Eagles reunited for the first time in more than a decade. This video shoot led to their reunion later that same year.
