When you have a star of the caliber and talent of Keith Urban on your stage, you want to just move over and let him do his thang. So that’s exactly what the producers of the 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year gala did on Jan. 26 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
The star-studded evening saluted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Fleetwood Mac, and featured tribute performances by Keith and scores of other incredible artists, all covering some of the iconic group’s most notable and beloved songs.
Keith took on the group’s “Second Hand News,” from their timeless and critically-acclaimed album, “Rumours.”
Honestly, y’all, it sounds perfect for him. The energy, the rocking guitar, the background vocals—this performance from Keith was positively electric!
Doesn’t he just look like he’s having the time of his life? We would have given anything to have been in the crowd for that one!
And Keith, of course, got to express his love and gratitude to the group in person. We love this photo of him with Christine McVie that was posted on his Instagram!
Normally, we’re fangirling over Keith, so it’s so cute to see him getting starstruck over another act. We totally understand his excitement, too. After all, it’s Fleetwood Mac!
Now, Keith wasn’t the only country star on the lineup for the annual pre-Grammy gala. His buddies Little Big Town also brought the house down with their incredible rendition of “Dreams,” in pitch perfect harmony, of course. And Zac Brown Band performed “Don’t Stop.”
One of our favorite moments came when Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas teamed up to perform “Songbird.” Check it out …
Gosh, y’all, they brought it, didn’t they?
While watching these videos, we couldn’t help but think back on the time LBT and Keith came together and covered Fleetwood Mac just for fun—remember when they all got together and slayed “The Chain” on the 2013 CMT Music Awards?
Let us remind you …
Whoa! How about that moment Keith comes up from the floor?! We’re gonna be watching this on repeat for the rest of the day.
We love how much they all love Fleetwood Mac. You know these tributes are all straight from the heart.
Other performers at the MusiCares gala included Imagine Dragons, Lorde, OneRepublic, Harry Styles, Jared Leto and Miley Cyrus, along with Fleetwood Mac themselves.
Little Big Town will be among the performers on “The 60th Grammy Awards,” airing Jan. 28 on CBS. Other country performers will include Chris Stapleton, Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne.
