Everything about starting a new tour is exciting! Hearing the itinerary to see if your city is on it, finding out who the opening acts are and learning that your favorite song is on the set list are just a few of the things that get our hearts racing.
But some sneaky artists have to throw in a surprise from time to time, and it brings the crowds to their feet and keeps people talking for days.
Chris Young just kicked off his headlining “Losing Sleep World Tour” with pals Kane Brown and LANCO, starting in Indianapolis before heading to Kansas City and, finally, St. Louis. The big surprise for Chris was that every show on this first weekend was sold out!
The big surprise for those lucky ticket holders in St. Louis was something else, though: Cassadee Pope!
Yep, fans did a double-take when, after Chris performed the first verse, his duet partner strolled out onto the stage to resurrect their mega-hit single, “Think of You.”
Chris has released two hit singles—“Sober Saturday Night” and “Losing Sleep”—since he and Cassadee topped the charts in 2016 with the Platinum-selling single from his “I’m Comin’ Over” album. Chris co-wrote “Think of You” with pals Josh Hoge and Corey Crowder, and even though it is slightly older, it remains a fan favorite thanks to their dynamic vocals and obvious chemistry.
Could Cassadee show up for more of Chris’ shows to relive this magical duet? It’s entirely possible. She does have show dates on her itinerary for January, February and March, and while some of them conflict with Chris’ “Losing Sleep World Tour” show dates, she is also free for several of them.
Chris, Kane and LANCO are back out this coming weekend and are booked all the way into May for this initial run of the tour. Of course, Chris also has that highly anticipated big show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that both he and his fans are looking forward to.
“Losing Sleep” is the debut single and the title track from Chris’ sixth studio album, which just came out in October. With the song still in the Top 10, no announcements have been made regarding what track could possibly follow up the hit single, but it marks his eighth consecutive Top 10 hit and, if it rings the chart-topping bell, it will become his fourth consecutive No. 1 for the Tennessee native.
It’s also proving Chris’ real knack for nailing those super sexy singles. “Losing Sleep” is just the most recent addition to his catalog that includes those dreamy tunes like “Think of You,” “I’m Comin’ Over,” “Gettin’ You Home,” “Lonely Eyes,” “Who I Am With You” and “Tomorrow.”
Makes you eager to see what’s next, right?
