Cam and Motown legend Smokey Robinson teamed up for a brand-new episode of “CMT Crossroads” premiering March 28, and we’ve got your first taste of their collaboration here. The two stars trade vocals on Smokey’s classic hit, “I Second That Emotion,” and you can tell from the big smile on Cam’s face she’s so happy to be performing onstage with this musical giant.

Before they taped the performance, Smokey and Cam sat down with the Associated Press to discuss their collaboration bridging the worlds of R&B and country.

Smokey says, “We have music in common. We have the love of music in common. We have the love of songwriting in common. We have a lot of things in common.” He then tells Cam, “Don’t tell your man I said that, but we have a lot of things in common.”

After she stops laughing at Smokey’s joke, Cam adds, “We do! We were just talking about how the thing that Smokey really values the most about music, and what he really cares about writing songs is he wants to write something that can be appreciated for decades ahead. Obviously he’s already accomplished that.”

Cam has also got that timeless vibe with her own songs, including signature hit “Burning House.”

Smokey says of that one, “Out of all the songs that we’re singing together, I give a slight edge to one of them, and that’s ‘Burning House.’ It’s so beautiful.”

Now that’s high praise!

Cam and Smokey’s episode of “CMT Crossroads” airs March 28 at 10 p.m. ET on CMT.
