They had to go back. They had to face their fears and their memories of that tragic night in October. They had to show that coward of a man towering over them on that fateful night that evil will never win. And most of all, they had to play Vegas again.

And that’s just what they did.

Big & Rich returned to Las Vegas on Oct. 19 with friends including Rascal Flatts, comedian Ron White and talk show host Sean Hannity for “Vegas Strong: A Night of Healing,” a free benefit concert at the Orleans Arena to honor victims, survivors and first responders from the Oct. 1 tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

“We are all #VEGASSTRONG,” the duo wrote on Instagram Oct. 24 alongside a special and emotional video compilation of the night. “Land of the free, home of the brave,” they added.

Fans will recall that Big & Rich had just played the Route 91 Festival just hours before the shooting. And in an effort to turn a negative into a positive, this particular concert raised proceeds that went straight to the Steve Sisolak Las Vegas Victims’ Fund.

The most striking thing about the video Big & Rich shares was the fans — the thousands who turned out to fill that arena that night, raising their arms in solidarity for all we lost and all we found.

“Let’s drink to the heroes,” John Rich can be heard saying during one part of the video. We couldn’t agree more.
