After last year’s incredible country music baby boom, we were wondering what could take over as the new theme for country music in 2018.
Well, hold the door and keep that oven warm because there’s another bun a-baking!
Zac Brown Band background vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook has just shared the big news that he and his wife are adding a new baby to their family.
An Instagram post shared the big news with a photo of Clay, his beautiful bride Brooke and the new baby’s big brother, Charlie, reading “The Bernstein Bears New Baby.” The singer, songwriter, musician and record producer wrote, “Our book-loving kid has a new favorite. I think it’s safe to say he’s pretty excited about this one. So happy to announce that Charlie has a sibling coming this summer! We couldn’t feel more lucky to be growing our family.”
Clay isn’t the only member of Zac Brown Band who will be adding to their family. Late last year, songwriter, musician and children’s book author Coy Bowles announced that he and wife Kylie were expecting their second little girl in 2018.
Now we aren’t even going to pretend like this might be the last pregnancy announcement in the band that boasts a whopping eight members. But even if it is, the Zac Brown Band already has an impressive collective number of offspring.
Let’s do a headcount.
It looks like seven of the eight members of Zac Brown Band are married with children. In addition to Clay and Coy, singer, songwriter, musician and the band’s namesake, Zac, and his wife, Shelly, have five little ones—four girls and a little boy, while the band’s fiddle player and background vocalist, Jimmy De Martini and his bride, Stacey, have three boys and a little girl. Multi-instrumental musician and writer John Driskell Hopkins and wife Jen have three daughters while drummer Chris Fryar got two incredible bonus kiddos when he married in 2010. Bass player, Matt Mangano and wife Emily have both a son and a daughter.
OK, so that’s an even 18 little Z-B-Babies with two more on the way, and that also sounds like a heckuva lot of fun in the bus corral backstage at shows. It also sounds like if the families are traveling with the band, everybody would need their own bus!
Speaking of shows, Zac and the boys will be hitting the road in March for the “Down the Rabbit Hole Live” tour, and they are kicking it off in style March 12 at RodeoHouston, the concert event around the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The tour stretches well into September and includes a nice working vacation for the band from March 16 to 20 at the “Zac Brown Band Castaway with Southern Ground” event in Riviera Maya, Mexico. And talk about parties, that extended week of sun and fun also includes performances from Jake Owen, Cam, LANCO, Drake White & The Big Fire, Blackberry Smoke, Darrrell Scott, the Original Wailers and the Record Company, as well as Coy and his band, the Fellowship.
