There’s a reason Kid Rock and Zac Brown Band routinely play to sold-out crowds across the country on their separate tours. When the two acts team up, it’s nothing short of magic.

That’s easy to see from this 2013 collaboration at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Zac and Kid are obviously having a blast trading vocals on a cover of the 1973 Grand Funk Railroad classic, “We’re an American Band.” It’s just the right kind of rocking vibe to put you squarely in your happy place.

It’s not always a party when Kid Rock and Zac Brown Band team up, though.

A few years ago, the country group ended up staying at Kid’s house in Detroit after their show in the Motor City. ZBB’s Coy Bowles was going through a breakup at the time, so he poured all of that heartbreak into a song the band wrote and recorded at Kid Rock’s home studio that very night. Coy tells that song ended up being their No. 1 ballad, “Colder Weather.”

Kid Rock is no stranger to country music. Check out his duet with his good pal Hank Williams, Jr. on the Bocephus standard “Family Tradition” here.
