You’ve got to hear who Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines is “ashamed” of now Getty Images

Surprise, surprise!

Natalie Maines of Dixie Chicks is speaking her mind about politics, and we’re guessing her comments are going to ruffle some feathers.

As you’ll recall, the Dixie Chicks’ country career pretty much ended after Natalie told an audience in London she was ashamed President George W. Bush is from Texas. Those comments were made in 2003 as the war in Iraq was ratcheting up.

Now, Natalie has come out against a Republican presidential candidate with a tweet saying, “Just so you know…I’m ashamed Ted Cruz is from America ;)”

She then tweeted again alluding to the fact that Cruz was actually born in Canada before moving to Texas as a kid — “I stand corrected…Just so you know, I’m ashamed Ted Cruz claims to be American.”

Natalie had a more light-hearted tweet about Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, though.

“As long as Donald Trump’s decisions for American are as solid as his decision about his hair, we’re in good shape.”

There’s no telling what Natalie will say onstage this summer as Dixie Chicks head out on their first tour in a decade. Lucky for us, she’ll have a mic in front of her face in the heat of election season.
