Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery’s lives will be forever connected thanks to their time spent together on “American Idol.” Though a lot of people just assume Lauren and Scotty’s relationship was a romantic one, it turns out they’ve never been anything more than just good friends. That friendship will reach another big milestone when they say goodbye to “American Idol” at this week’s finale.
During a recent catch-up at the ACM Awards, Lauren told Rare Country “[Scotty’s] wonderful. Obviously, we went through that crazy, life-changing experience together, so we’ll be friends forever.”
While in Los Angeles for the finale, Scotty and Lauren are planning a get-together to see all of the other contestants from their season on the show.
She said, “We’re all getting together while we’re in town. We have not done the show. So, it’s pretty exciting. Most of us will be able to make it. Some of us aren’t in town.”
Lauren admits she’ll miss “American Idol” as a fan of the show once it’s off the air.
“What am I gonna watch?” she said. “I record all of them and I watch them like a loser with some popcorn, and I’m so in love with the show, still.”
The “American Idol” series finale airs Thursday, April 7 on FOX. Look for Lauren to perform a medley of country hits with Kellie Pickler and several other “Idol” favorites.
