A woman’s tears are sacred, but even more so when they come from a woman who is known for being a strong, savvy business woman who uses a sharp, witty sense of humor to diffuse confrontation or deflect negativity.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a woman in the entirety of the entertainment industry that possesses the strength and sense of humor that Dolly Parton has. As well respected for her business acumen as she is for her knack of crafting words and chords into a song, the petite and voluptuous blond is far from stoic, but she is typically jolly and upbeat with a ready laugh and a constant smile on her face. It’s a very rare occasion when you see her drop a tear, but a few rolled down her cheeks during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” with Kathie Lee and Hoda.

Prior to her segment, the show’s hosts shared the news of 9-year-old Zion Harvey who had received a double-hand transplant after a terrible infection took both of his hands and feet. When the precious young man was asked what he loved most about having hands, he said, “Just being able to wrap them around my mom.”

If you aren’t tearing up yourself at this point, wait until you see Dolly wiping away tears as she watches, then in her typically effervescent southern self declares, “Oh my lord, that just got me.” Of course, both Kathie Lee and Hoda were also mopping their eyes and, truth be told, we were, too.

Fortunately, tissues were on hand before anyone’s mascara suffered, but it doesn’t look like Dolly would have minded after hearing such a touching story.
