We are truly in awe of how country music’s new moms are rebounding after months of pregnancy, hours of labor and nights of sleeplessness. Even after all of that, they show up at concerts, red carpet events and on social media looking like supermodels. And the unofficial leader of the pack might have to be Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, who has two babies under the age of two.
Up until now, Lauren has retained her all-American cuteness, but in a September 19 post on her Instagram page the beautiful blonde traded in her girl-next-door waist-length curls for a new ‘do of beautiful, shoulder-length waves.
But was it her choice?
Also in the photo is oldest daughter Willa Gray holding a chunk of Mom’s cut hair and sporting an impish grin.
Lauren’s caption reads, “Willa Gray got into my scissors this morning 😳,” but she also says, “hahah jk [just kidding]. We just had a day date at @thedryhousenashville and Ali chopped over a FOOT off my hair😍🙌🏼🙌🏼 #mamaneededlesshair #ifeelfreeeeeee @pantene my excess hair is coming your way! 💛”
Obviously, Lauren went to her favorite chop shop, Nashville’s the Dry House (co-owned by Dierks Bentley’s wife, Cassidy, and stylist Ali Ryan), to get a significant trim. And, as her comment states, she is donating 12-inches of long, healthy blond hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program that creates real-hair wigs for women who have lost theirs after cancer treatments.
We wouldn’t expect any less from Lauren, who is also an advocate of the 147-Million Orphan movement that provides food, water, medicine and shelter to orphans living in poverty.
