It’s safe to say that NBC’s “The Voice” is a leader when it comes to reality television competition shows. The popular sing-off series has kept fans engaged with its talented contestants, hilarious cast of coaches and surprising celebrity guests. And, now that the show is heading into its 14th season, you might be wondering who the coaches have picked as their respective team advisers.

Well, we can now tell you who Blake Shelton has selected!

According to E! News, the country crooner and longtime “The Voice” judge has called upon none other than Trace Adkins to help out his team during the challenging battle rounds of the competition. Yep, you read that right!

The news, which Trace shared on his Instagram page, may come as a surprise since the 56-year-old heavyweight once said Blake didn’t think having him on the show was a good idea.

“He said I was too mean,” Trace previous told Fox News of Blake, as Rare Country reported last July. “He said some of these people are fragile and they don’t need to be subjected to me.”

But Blake apparently ended up changing his mind, and for good reason, because we have a feeling the two of them will make a great team when they take on coaches Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson! After all, Trace and Blake have been friends for years. Not only did they previously collaborate on Blake’s song, “Hillbilly Bone,” but they also don’t mind poking fun at each other every now and then, as seen in the Instagram shot below.

Other country artists who have helped out Team Blake include Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley. So far, Blake’s choices have paid off, as he is currently the winningest coach with six victories under his belt including last season’s victory with Chloe Kohanski. So it will be interesting to see how things play out with Trace in the mix.

Season 14 of “The Voice” premieres on Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
