It was a star-studded night as many big-time country artists gathered at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to celebrate the 10th annual ACM Honors.
And, during the event, which aired on Sept. 9 on CBS, country hotshot Maren Morris paid homage to a fellow Texan — the legendary powerhouse singer Tanya Tucker.
Tanya was given the night’s ACM Cliffie Stone award. And, prior to the show, she spoke candidly in an interview saying, “It feels really great to be honored like this. I’ve always said that the greatest honor was the fans sitting in the seats out in front of the shows.”
This time though, Tanya became the fan in the front row, as Maren took the stage to salute her with her country classic, the ’70s “Delta Dawn.” Maren’s rendition of the song highlighted all of the reasons why the 26-year-old star is currently making waves in the same genre as Tanya. Because she nailed it!
As you can see in the video above, Maren floors us in a full-length, white ensemble that features a sexy slit. She accessorizes her dress with some killer, black heels. But, it’s her powerhouse voice that shined the most. She belted out “Delta Dawn” with true passion and southern twang.
Needless to say, Tanya was so flattered.
In fact, on the same day that the two-hour special aired, Tanya took to Twitter praising Maren’s rendition of “Delta Dawn” with a photo and caption, “We had a great time at the #ACMHonors! Maren Morris is such a doll – she did a great job with Delta Dawn!”
Tanya, we couldn’t agree more.
