Watch Eric Church take LBT’s “Girl Crush” to a whole new sultry level

Eric Church seems to do his best work in the dark — and by that, we mean behind a pair of shades.

With his sunglasses on and his country music friends by his side, the country bad boy took Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium by storm June 10 with a brand new rendition of Little Big Town’s chart topper “Girl Crush,” alongside LBT’s Karen Fairchild and Phillip Sweet and vocal powerhouses Chris and Morgane Stapleton.

The performance was just one of many at the highly anticipated Marty Stuart’s Late Night Jam.

“It was when (Stuart) welcomed Eric Church onstage a little after 1:00 a.m. that the evening truly heated up, reenergizing a crowd that had taken their seats hours earlier,” described Rolling Stone Magazine of the fateful performance. “Here was country’s preeminent alpha male singing the year’s most sultry torch song – and the fans hearty enough to still be awake ate it up. Fairchild stepped in to finish the song, balancing Church’s growl with her own purr.”

The performance rounded out a busy night for Church, who had earlier performed a sultry version of his latest hit “Like a Wrecking Ball” virtually across the street at the Bridgestone Arena where the 2015 CMT Music Awards aired.
