A few short weeks ago, Kris Jones became a country music sensation. A simple video of him singing Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” later shared by his adoring daughter, took the country by storm. And all of a sudden, his life started to change before his very eyes.
But he never could have imagined this.
Talk show host extraordinaire Ellen DeGeneres took notice of the dad’s vocals, and invited him to come perform on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Jan. 19. “If this is all it ever does and this is as far as my career goes, being on your show makes me feel like I’ve reached the top,” he says, admitting that he was close to crying.
“This is just the beginning,” Ellen told him after a big hug.
Kris went on to once again perform his version of “Tennessee Whiskey” with his daughter watching adoringly from the side of the stage and, once the performance was complete, the crowd could not stop cheering.
And then, things got even better for Kris.
“I know you stopped pursing your music to support your family,” Ellen told him before presenting him with a $10,000 check from Shutterfly to help him ‘further pursue his dream.’
We can’t wait to see what’s next for Kris!
