Watch as Brad Paisley shows up at a devoted fan’s funeral and does the unthinkable YouTube

Alison Greene was an amazing woman. A devoted wife and caring mother, she had a whole fulfilling life awaiting her.

That is, until cancer took it all away.

Around the time of her death in 2011, friends and family shared Alison’s story with the world through an endless array of Facebook posts, YouTube videos and Tweets, eventually garnering the attention of her favorite country music superstar, Brad Paisley. And despite being at the pinnacle of his country music stardom, Brad found a way to travel to California and perform at a celebration of Alison’s life.

With family and friends still mourning and Alison’s husband and 3-year-old daughter swaying in the background, Brad sat on a chair in the middle of the room, singing songs that meant something to Alison. There were upbeat songs such as “Celebrity” and songs that induced tears from the mourners such as “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “She’s Everything” and “Then.”

“When I was watching the video, it brought me to tears, and I thought, ‘Man, if I could just be there,’” Brad told those who attended the memorial. “So they said, ‘Will you be there, Brad, Monday the 7th in Orange County?’ and I thought, ‘Yeah. I am going to be there.’”

Brad never asked for publicity on that day in 2011. There were no camera crews set up to take nice pictures or videos to splash up on social media. But now, five years later, we felt it was time to give his generosity its moment in the spotlight.
