In promotion for his upcoming record, “If I’m Honest,” due out May 20, Blake Shelton crooned “Came Here to Forget” on a May 13 episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
But, before Blake sang, Jimmy cracked a few jokes on his country star buddy.
Playfully poking fun about Blake’s album title prior to his performance, Jimmy told the audience, “He will release his new album, “If I’m Honest”…. I’m not saying if I’m honest, that’s the name of the album. I’m being honest.”
“That’s hilarious — very funny,” Blake quipped.
Then, channeling his silly-side emotions into a more serious persona, Blake poured his heart out on “Came Here To Forget.” Leaning into his microphone on a blue-lit stage, the Oklahoma native released the truthful song’s lyrics that signal the beginning of a blissful relationship shared between him and rockstar girlfriend Gwen Stefani and the end of one with his ex, Miranda Lambert.
Of course, when you’re a guest on Jimmy’s show, that somber mood doesn’t last very long. Blake planted a kiss on Jimmy at the end of the song!
Earlier this month, Blake and Gwen revealed another song on the album — one that they collaborated on titled “Go Ahead And Break My Heart.” Together, they debuted the new duet on an episode of “The Voice.”
Both Blake and Gwen will also perform “Go Ahead And Break My Heart” at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on May 22.
