It’s officially holiday time – a time when everyone should be happy and singing carols and putting presents underneath the tree.
Yet, it’s not as easy as it looks.
In fact, countless families from across the country have to work hard to get those presents under the tree, with some having to find creative ways to ensure they can afford the gifts they want to buy for their loved ones.
While country artists like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill probably don’t have to worry too much about putting things on layaway, they know that plenty of people do. So taking their “Humble and Kind” movement to a whole new level, the two country stars recently shocked a few Walmart shoppers by paying off $5,000 in layaway purchases, according to a Florida TV station.
It was Tim’s mother, Betty Trimble, who actually went to the Florida Walmart to drop off the money and cards, telling one shopper that she was simply serving as a secret Santa. How cool is that?
“I didn’t have anything on layaway, was just picking up a package and she gave me this,” said shopper Jessica Lumpkin. “I’ve never had this happen to me. I’m glad I call Baker County my home.”
It’s moment like this that led to Tim McGraw being nominated for male artist of the year in this year’s Rare Country Awards. You can vote online at RareCountryAwards.com. Winners will be announced on Dec. 15.
