When you watch the Edgar family band take the stage on this season of “America’s Got Talent” and you hear the way their voices seem to effortlessly blend together, many might assume that they must have some country music connections.
Well, y’all are right.
Getting some much-deserved attention after being voted in as a semi-finalist on the Aug. 24 live episode after their heartwarming performance of the James Taylor classic “You’ve Got a Friend,” the family trio does in fact have a musical background that many might not be aware of.
In fact, Nikki Leonti was a Christian music singer before having her daughter, Jaslyn. Years later, she found herself on the stage again – this time serving as a backup singer for none other than country music superstar Carrie Underwood.
Throughout her topsy-turvy career, she has also sung backup for artists like CeeLo Green, Amy Grant, Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato. She also has lent her vocals on a number of other shows such as “Glee,” “American Idol” and “The Voice.”
With so many years spent in the shadows, we look forward to seeing if it’s Nikki’s turn in the spotlight!
