It was a story that touched millions.

Ben Ellis, a beloved teacher from the suburbs of Nashville, passed away on Sept. 16 from cancer. Yet, just a few days before, Ben became the subject of one of the most heartwarming stories of the year, in which the student body from Christ Presbyterian Academy where he taught sang a song to him outside his window.

The video went viral, partly thanks to country superstar Tim McGraw sharing it on his socials.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, Tim shared his thoughts over Ben’s untimely death. “Mr. Ben Ellis has passed away,” Tim wrote on his Instagram page alongside a beautiful picture of a sunlit sky. “The example of love and kindness that showed in his heart through his teaching has impacted so many of his students, and through them has and will continue to impact the world…….time well spent Mr. Ellis, time well spent sir… now, for you shall be well received.”

Despite Ben’s death, the moment serves as yet another example of Tim’s “Humble and Kind” movement that has been inspiring people since the song’s release. The song has served as quite the masterpiece from Tim’s 14th studio album, “Damn Country Music,” which was released in November of 2015.
