Thomas Rhett’s wife says week one with two kids has been an adjustment Instagram/@Laur_Akins

It would have been a challenge for anyone, but you can bet that Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, isn’t complaining one bit about having two little girls under the age of two in the home.

But Lauren has also been completely transparent about everything from Willa’s adoption to her pregnancy ice cream cravings. And in a new post on her Instagram page, she explains how the family is getting along, especially with new daddy, Thomas back on the road.

Video shows Thomas Rhett’s mother, Paige, holding Willa Gray and her sister, Kacie, holding Ada James. You can hear Kacie coaching Willa on who the baby is and how to be gentle. While Willa looks a bit in awe of the newest member of the family, we’ve also seen evidence that she can be rowdy … in the most fun way! Still, that kind of energy around a newborn could be difficult to manage. So, Thomas Rhett and Lauren made a tough decision.

Lauren explains, “I know everyone is wondering about WG & AJ and how there doing together 😘 honestly it’s taken WG a little bit of adjusting, and she’s been staying with family and friends off and on, especially when Thomas Rhett leaves because I think it’s impossible for me to recover, take care of our two pups and a newborn and a 21 month old all at the same time 😂 Soooo, Willa Gray hasn’t been around a ton the last week, but don’t worry! There will be LOTS of sister time soon. And she LOVES Ada now. We’re just working on being ‘gentle’ right now, haha. She’s home today and so is daddy, so all is right in our world, at least for a little bit.”

You can tell by the video that Willa is in good hands with both Lauren’s and Rhett’s families. She’s perfectly comfortable with both her nana and auntie. In fact, we bet there is a significant amount of spoiling going on.

It’s nice, too, that Lauren has had the opportunity to give Ada a bit of the one-on-one time that Willa got when she first arrived in the country. Ada sure seems to love it, particularly around mealtime. She captioned the photo below “milk drunk.”
