It’s been so much fun seeing how our favorite country stars are celebrating the holidays with their families in matching PJs and sweaters. It’s been equally fun seeing the gifts that Santa brought for all of country’s little ones and a few of the big ones. And even though Christmas has come and gone, Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins are remembering that their greatest gift came well before the tree was trimmed and the stockings were hung.
Lauren actually shared a post on Instagram on Christmas Day of her oldest daughter, Willa Gray, enjoying one of her favorite gifts from Santa, a play kitchen. Dressed in a chef’s hat, the youngster is pretending to make breakfast, or eggs anyway, and she is completely absorbed and delighted with her task.
It could be any little girl on Christmas morning, until Lauren reminds us, “Thanking God Jesus was born today and gave us our angel baby to finally be at home with us this Christmas cooking in her little kitchen 🎄✨❤ #itsthemostwonderfultimeoftheyear #happybirthdayJesus”
While children and parents alike were untying bows and unwrapping presents on Christmas Eve or the following morning, Thomas Rhett and Lauren got the first of two highly prized gifts back in May when Willa Gray arrived from Uganda following a lengthy and complicated adoption process.
Just a few short months later, part two arrived in the form of little Ada James, who is the spitting image of her daddy.
Words like perfect, precious and priceless spring to mind when we look at the photo that Thomas Rhett shared on his Instagram page, but he used a different one in his post. “Feeling very blessed this holiday season,” he writes. “These [three] make life incredible. Hope everyone had a great Christmas with family and friends! 🙌🏼🎄”
Sweet, simple and sincere, and we’re reminded of why we adore this very genuine little family so much. Their boundless faith and endless love for each other is inspiring.
We’re anxious to see what the Akins family has planned for the first part of 2018. Thomas Rhett isn’t showing any concert dates on his calendar until April, and after an insanely busy 2017 with the “Home Team Tour,” we certainly understand why. While we know songwriters are always writing, he did just release his “Life Changes” album in September, so it doesn’t seem likely that he would be recording a new project yet.
Hopefully, T-Rhett and Lauren are going to enjoy just being a little family for a while before their year gets crazy again, and we hope they’ll continue to take us along for the journey. We sure have enjoyed it so far.
