Country star and coach of The Voice Blake Shelton is expected to perform the national anthem at Super Bowl XLIX on February 1.
“The Super Bowl organizers are looking to mix it up a little bit for the person to do the national anthem. They want a guy and they have asked Blake Shelton,” an unnamed source source told Hollywood Life.
Shelton has yet to officially accept the request, but it is very likely that the 38-year-old musician will be on board.
“He hasn’t responded to it yet but they are anticipating a yes and they want to make the announcement during an upcoming playoff game,” the source continued. “So they are looking to lock the performer in by the end of the week. But Blake is on the top of the list.”
