We couldn’t believe our eyes when we scrolled through Instagram and found this incredible photo of a global pop sensation dressed up as a global country icon.
We thought, “Wait, is that a young Dolly Parton? Or is that … Adele dressed up as Dolly?!”
It’s the latter, folks, and this photo is already breaking the internet. Just look at it—she absolutely nailed it!
Now, we don’t know the context of the photo, or for what purpose Adele donned this fabulous Dolly look, but it must have been a big deal. At least we know it was a big deal for Adele to pay tribute to one of her idols.
“The effortless queen of song, Dolly Parton! We love you! We wish we could possess an ounce of your ability,” the British songstress captioned the shot.
Well, Adele, some people may argue that there are a lot of folks out there who would love to possess an ounce of your ability, too. You are both total legends!
Adele continues on, writing, “You were the hero of our night! A hero of my life. I’ll always love you x.”
Aww, what a lovely and genuine thing to say!
And don’t think Dolly herself didn’t notice.
She commented back on Adele’s photo, saying, “And I will always love you! 💗💗💗”
Goodness, could a real friendship be blossoming?
If you’re an Adele fan and a Dolly fan, it’s easy to see how well these two would get along. They’re both smart, witty, sassy, blunt, genuine, as real as it gets and insanely talented.
Man, we would love for them to collaborate at some point. OK, ladies, get on that, because apparently Dolly is down.
She told “Digital Spy” back in 2016 that she would love to work with the British singer.
“I love her, love her, love her!” Dolly said at the time.
“Did you notice I used her name in one of the songs on the album [‘Pure and Simple’]? On ‘Head Over High Heels’, when I say ‘I put on my tight dress, hair piled on my head, painting my lips red like Adele,’” she told Digital Spy.
Dolly continued to gush to the outlet, saying, “I just love her. I love how she looks, I love how she sings, I love how she is. I would love to do something with her. Maybe write a song? Maybe do a duet. So pass that word along!”
Hello? Adele? It’s us—Call Dolly back, girl. Come to Tennessee. And bring that fabulous wig with you.
