Kelsea Ballerini had a rough start playing a game of charades with the other guests on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” but she more than made up for it in the end. Kelsea was on a team with actor Matt Bomer, and they squared off against Jimmy Fallon paired with actress Jessica Biel.
Let’s talk about that rocky start first.
In the first round, Jessica had the clue “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” and Jimmy got it almost immediately. That quick communication probably came about because Jessica and Jimmy are pals in real life through Jessica’s hubby, Justin Timberlake.
Kelsea and Matt had a much tougher time with their clue, Christina Aguilera’s pop hit, “Genie in a Bottle.” At first, Matt tried to act like he was rubbing a lamp to free the genie, just like the genie we all know from “Aladdin.” Kelsea just wasn’t getting it. When he tried to give clues for the word “bottle,” Kelsea kept going back to wine.
Jessica and Jimmy quickly got their second round clue, “Dances with Wolves,” but Kelsea struggled to get Matt to recognize their movie clue, “Magic Mike.” She got him to guess “Magic,” but time ran out before he got the “Mike” part. What’s even crazier is Matt Bomer stars in both “Magic Mike” movies!
Kelsea really rebounded in the final lightning round, though. She quickly got Matt’s clues for “Cry Me a River,” and blurted it out before Jimmy and Jessica guessed it.
After this fun little game, Kelsea returned to the stage to perform her latest hit, “Legends.” It’s the lead single from her upcoming sophomore album, “Unapologetically,” due out November 3.
