When you’re young, it’s easy to think that you have your whole life ahead of you.

But, that kind of mind-set has changed for one Brantley Gilbert fan.

Brett Szumila, who resides in Michigan, is fighting for his life. At just 19 years old, he is battling stage IV liver cancer. Despite his ailment, Brett has created a bucket list, which includes everything he’s ever wanted to do in his life.

One of those wishes includes meeting Brantley in person.

Turns out that wish came true just before the country star’s Aug. 13 show at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.

A meet and greet photo featuring Brett and Brantley was shared on the “One Hell of an Amen” singer’s Instagram page. The post also includes a heartfelt note penned by Brett’s godmother, Kathy Lyon.

“This is my 19 year old godson Brett. On May 31st 2017, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer. He has only been given 6-12 months,” Kathy writes. “Brantley, you and your team are beyond amazing and I thank god every day that you have helped me make this dream come true for Brett. He is a quiet young man, and not even he can put into words how much this means to him. He keeps telling me he can’t believe it. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

Words well said.

Brantley, who is about to be a father, kicked off the summer leg of his “The Devil Don’t Sleep Tour” in early June. The trek, which features opening acts, Tyler Farr and Luke Combs, runs through late September.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Brett as he continues to show his strength in his fight.
