Still reeling from the death of his father, Keith Urban receives an incredible honor YouTube

There are moments that are just made better when your parents are there to see them. Unfortunately for so many, those parents are often taken away far too soon and end up missing some of the biggest moments of our lives.

Just ask Keith Urban.

At the recent CMC Music Awards in his native land of Australia, Keith was named CMC International Artist of the Year. Unfortunately, Keith is currently shooting “American Idol” and was unable to be there to accept the honor in person.

“Right now I am wrapping up the record and getting it all done so we can come and play,” Keith said in a recorded message. “I am just dying to come back and play, and that is the plan right now. It feels strange to me to be considered an international artist in Queensland but thank you very much for the support. It means the world to me.”

And while Keith’s dad is no longer here on earth to see these milestones first hand, Keith’s mom Mary Ann Urban was there and watched it all from the audience.

“Thank you so much for this award and to everyone who voted,” added Keith, who also took home International Video of the Year for his duet with Eric Church on “Raise ‘Em Up.” “Also to Eric Church, we had a blast shooting this video.”

The sixth annual awards show also included performances from Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Kelsea Ballerini.
