See why this “American Idol” contestant put Keith Urban into a very emotional state YouTube

On March 10, “American Idol” contestant Tristan McIntosh earned her spot in the Top 6, but she probably wouldn’t have gotten there if it weren’t for one very special person — her grandfather.

Last week, when the “Idol” hopeful sang Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” we learned that she dedicated the song to her beloved grandpa who broke his back. Thursday’s episode played out much the same.

This time, Tristan sang Martina McBride’s 1997 hit “Broken Wing,” a song that she said made her cry when she was a child.

Needless to say, Keith Urban got a little choked up, too.

“I love your grandfather being so supportive like he’s been, it was so touching,” said Keith, “My dad got me into country music and he passed away in December, so I got a little emotional watching it. “

Ever since the 2016 season started, Tristan’s been opting to sing powerhouse country songs, and so far she hasn’t run into any snags with the judges.

“Tristan, you just have such a perfectly suited country voice,” raved Jennifer Lopez. “It’s really so beautiful, and that was a perfect song for you as far as I’m concerned.”

Harry Connick Jr. added that he believed she was a true country singer.

If Tristan keeps soaring on songs like “Broken Wing,” it’s just a matter of time before she flies.
