We’re gonna give Ashton Kutcher an A for effort, but he probably should stick to acting based on this collaboration with Thomas Rhett.
Ashton joined Thomas onstage Aug. 27 at the Back Porch Revival concert at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. An Iowa native himself, Ashton was on hand for the concert to help raise money for the Iowa-based charity, The Native Fund. The actor is also a huge country music fan, so Thomas invited him out to help out on a cover of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places.”
Unfortunately, there’s a good reason Ashton hasn’t starred in a hit musical. His vocals were a little rough, but his heart was definitely in the right place.
Thomas gave a big shoutout to Ashton for helping him out with the performance and added, “Your hometown crowd in Iowa City brought the heat!”
This show isn’t the only charity event Thomas is taking part in this year. He’s just announced plans to host the Thomas Rhett & Friends benefit show at The Old School in Nashville on Oct. 4. Dierks Bentley, newcomer Walker Hayes and songwriter Shane McAnally are joining Thomas on the show and proceeds go to 147 Million Orphans, a charity dear to the hearts of Thomas and his wife, Lauren.
He says, “We’re getting asked all the time by friends and fans about what they can do to help, so we wanted to put something together to help support all the work 147 is doing for orphans around the world. I can’t think of a better group of guys to help kick this off than Dierks, Walker and Shane and am looking forward to a couple other surprises we’re working on for the night.”
